Easter in Ireland

Easter is a special holiday in Ireland. It happens every year in March or April. Irish people celebrate Easter with their families and friends. Easter is important for two reasons. First, it is a religious celebration. Second, it is a very important day in Irish history.

Many Irish people go to church on Easter Sunday morning. Some people pray inside the church. Others wait outside and talk with their neighbours. Some children wear new clothes because it is an Irish tradition. After church, families sit together at home and enjoy a traditional meal. They eat foods like eggs, lamb, and fresh bread. Children play games with eggs in the garden. They also eat lots of chocolate eggs.

Easter is also a very important time in Irish history. In 1916, Irish people fought for independence on Easter Monday. This is called the Easter Rising. Every year at Easter, Irish people remember this event with special ceremonies in Dublin.

Today, Easter in Ireland has religion, history, and family traditions. People come together and feel happy. It is a very special time of year for Irish people everywhere.
