El Niño 2026/ Free A1 English Lesson/ Simple Present

El Niño is about the weather. It happens in the Pacific Ocean. The water in the ocean gets very warm. This changes the weather in many countries around the world.

Sometimes El Niño is very strong. Scientists call this a “Super El Niño.” It does not happen very often. It happens about five times every one hundred years. The last Super El Niño happens in 2015 and 2016.

Scientists think a Super El Niño comes in 2026. When this happens, some places get a lot of rain and bad floods. Other places get very hot and dry. Storms are also very strong during El Niño.

In the United States, the south gets a cold and wet winter. The north gets a warm and dry winter. In other parts of the world, some countries get very little rain and others get too much.

A Super El Niño also makes the whole Earth warmer. Scientists say 2026 or 2027 is maybe the hottest year in history. This is a big problem for the planet.

Scientists watch the ocean every day. They study the water temperature carefully. They want to know how strong El Niño is this year.
