There is a very old church in the city of Maastricht, in the Netherlands. The church is called St Peter and Paul Church.
In February, part of the church floor breaks. Workers start repairs. Under the floor, they discover a skeleton. Next to the skeleton there is an old French coin and a small bullet.
Scientists believe the skeleton is from a famous French soldier. His name is D’Artagnan. He is a real person. He works for the King of France.
D’Artagnan is also the main person in a very popular book. The book is called The Three Musketeers. People all around the world love this story. There are also many films about him.
D’Artagnan dies in Maastricht in 1673. After he dies, people put his body in the ground next to the church.
Scientists take the skeleton to a laboratory in Germany. They study the bones very carefully. They want to know if the skeleton is really D’Artagnan. Nobody knows yet.
