Easter in Ireland: A2 English Reading Lesson with Present Simple, Past Simple and Phrasal Verbs

Easter is a special holiday in Ireland. It takes place every year in March or April. Irish people look forward to Easter because it is a time for religion, history, and family.

Many Irish people get up early on Easter Sunday morning. They put on their best clothes and go to church. Some people are praying quietly inside the church while others wait outside and chat with their neighbours. After the church service, families go back home and sit down together for a traditional meal. They eat foods like eggs, lamb, and fresh bread. Children run around in the garden and play games with eggs. They also eat lots of chocolate eggs.

Easter is a very important time in Irish history. In 1916, a group of Irish people stood up for their country and fought for independence on Easter Monday. This was called the Easter Rising. Many people gave up their lives for Irish freedom. Every year, Irish people carry on this tradition and remember the Easter Rising with special ceremonies in Dublin.

Today, Easter in Ireland is a time for religion, history, and family. People come together, catch up with old friends, and feel happy. Children are looking forward to their chocolate eggs and families are enjoying time together. It is a very special time of year for Irish people everywhere.
