Everyday Speaking Skills in English | Functional Language for Real Conversations
About Course
Do you know grammar and vocabulary but still find it hard to actually speak in English? This free course is designed to help with exactly that.
Knowing words and rules is only part of speaking well. The other part is knowing how to use language in real conversations — how to introduce yourself, ask simple questions, share an opinion, agree or disagree politely, or show that you are not completely sure about something. These are the skills that make the difference between knowing English and actually using it.
Each lesson focuses on one speaking skill, starting from the very basics. You will learn key phrases, hear them used in a short, natural conversation, and then practise them through a range of interactive exercises — multiple choice, matching, gap fill, and more.
Lessons are available at different levels, so you can start exactly where you are and build up gradually. Beginner lessons use very short, simple sentences and slow, clear listening practice. As you progress through the levels, the language becomes more natural and the conversations more realistic.
All lessons are free, work on any device, and need no registration.
Topics in this course include introducing yourself and asking simple questions, giving opinions and agreeing or disagreeing, hedging and expressing uncertainty, emphasising and softening what you say, describing feelings and reactions, managing a conversation, asking for clarification, discussing problems and solutions, and adjusting your language between formal and informal situations.
