Galápagos Rangers A2 English Lesson/ Simple Past, Phrasal Verbs

The Galápagos Islands are a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean, near Ecuador in South America. Many unique and special animals live there. A team of park rangers work on the islands every day to protect them.

Rangers do many different jobs. They walk around the park and watch the animals carefully. They are also working hard to stop people from fishing illegally in the water. When they find illegal fishermen, they deal with them and call the authorities.

The islands are home to some amazing animals. Giant tortoises are one of the most famous. In the past, people hunted these tortoises and their numbers went down quickly. Rangers set up special breeding centres to help them and slowly brought back their population. Penguins, sea lions, iguanas, and many birds also live on the islands.

Some animals came to the islands from other places. These animals took over the homes and food of the local wildlife. Rangers found these animals and removed them from the islands. They still go out regularly to look out for this problem.

Rangers also look after the tourists who visit the islands. They make sure visitors follow the rules and do not touch or feed the animals.

The rangers are very proud of their work. Thanks to them, the Galápagos Islands are still a beautiful and wild place.
