make/makes, don't make/doesn't make, and questions

Language Focus

We use make to talk about creating, cooking, and producing things.

Negativedon't make / doesn't makeI don't make much money. He doesn't make his bed.
Yes/No QuestionDo...make...? / Does...make...?Do you make your own clothes? Does she make good decisions?
Short AnswerYes/No + subject + do/does(n't)Yes, I do. No, she doesn't.
Wh- QuestionWh-word + do/does + subject + make...?What do you make for breakfast? How does he make extra money?

Remember: don't confuse "make" and "do"! We usually make things we create (make a cake, make a decision, make a mistake, make noise), but we do tasks and work (do homework, do the chores, do exercise). "Do a cake" is wrong – the correct form is "make a cake".
