The Verb "To Have": Yes/No Questions

Do you have...? Does she have...? and short answers

Language Focus

To make a Yes/No question with "have", we put Do or Does at the start of the sentence, before the subject.

SubjectQuestion formExample
I / you / we / theyDo...have...?Do you have a car? Do they have children?
he / she / itDoes...have...?Does she have any siblings? Does it have a warranty?

Short answers: we usually answer with Yes/No + subject + do/does (or don't/doesn't for No). For example: "Does she have a car?" → "Yes, she does." / "No, she doesn't."
