Language Focus
We already know the six main Wh- question words. In this lesson we also practise two useful Wh- phrases: What time and How often.
The pattern is still: Wh-word + do/does + subject + base verb
| Wh-word | Example |
|---|---|
| What - a thing or activity | What do you eat for lunch? |
| Where - a place | Where does she study? |
| When - a time | When do you finish work? |
| Why - a reason | Why does he go to bed early? |
| Who - a person | Who do you play with? |
| How - a way of doing something | How does she cook dinner? |
| What time - a clock time | What time does the shop close? |
| How often - how many times | How often do you exercise? |
Remember: use do with I/you/we/they, and does with he/she/it. The main verb stays in its base form.
