Language Focus
We use Wh- question words to ask for information: a thing, a place, a time, a reason, a person, or a way of doing something.
The pattern is: Wh-word + do/does + subject + base verb
| Wh-word | Example |
|---|---|
| What - a thing or activity | What do you do after school? |
| Where - a place | Where does he live? |
| When - a time | When do they arrive? |
| Why - a reason | Why does she study so much? |
| Who - a person | Who do you call? |
| How - a way of doing something | How do you get to school? |
Remember: use do with I/you/we/they, and does with he/she/it. The main verb stays in its base form.
