A1 English Lesson 5: Present Simple - Irregular Verbs (he/she forms)

Language Focus

Some verbs are different with he / she / it. They don't just add -s.

Verb type	Example
have → has	I have a bike. She has a bike.
Verbs ending in -o: add -es	I go to work. She goes to work. I do my job. She does her job.
Verbs ending in -ch, -sh, -x: add -es	I watch TV. She watches TV. I wash cars. She washes cars. I fix bikes. She fixes bikes.
Verbs ending in consonant + -y: change y to i, add -es	I study English. She studies English. I try hard. She tries hard.

Remember: these verbs are used with he / she / it, just like regular verbs - but the spelling changes in a special way.

Context: a girl and her brother

Maria has a busy week.

She goes to school every day.

She does her homework in the evening.

She studies English on Mondays and Wednesdays.

She watches her favourite show on Fridays.

She washes the car with her dad on Saturdays.

Her brother Leo fixes computers at a small shop.

He tries to help every customer.
