Language Focus
We use the present simple to talk about everyday actions, habits, and routines - and to say what people don't do too.
| Rule | Example |
|---|---|
| Positive: I / you / we / they + base form | I work in a shop. They live in Paris. |
| Positive: he / she / it + verb + s | He works in a shop. She lives in Paris. |
| Negative: I / you / we / they + don't + base form | I don't work on Sundays. They don't live here. |
| Negative: he / she / it + doesn't + base form | He doesn't work on Sundays. She doesn't live here. |
Remember: after don't or doesn't, the verb is always in its base form - never add -s! She doesn't work, NOT she doesn't works.
