Language Focus
We use the present simple to talk about everyday actions, habits, and routines.
| Rule | Example |
|---|---|
| I / you / we / they + base form | I work in a shop. They live in Paris. |
| he / she / it + verb + s | He works in a shop. She lives in Paris. |
| Verbs ending in -s, -ss, -sh, -ch, -x + es | She watches TV. He washes the car. |
| Consonant + y → change y to i, + es | She studies English. He carries the bags. |
Remember: only he, she, and it need the extra letter on the verb. I, you, we, and they use the base form.

She plays the guitar every evening.

They cook lunch together.
In the afternoon, Sara walks in the park with her dog.
