For / Since / How long — reminder:
I have waited for an hour. (length of time)
She has stayed here since last Tuesday. (point in time)
How long have you felt this way? — I have felt this way for two weeks.

State verbs with the present perfect: Verbs like wait, feel, think, believe, understand, want, need often describe a state that started in the past and continues now. They commonly appear with for and since.
She has believed this for a long time. | I have needed help since the beginning.
